甚麼是過去式（Simple Past Tense）?

過去式（Simple Past Tense）用作描述過去發生的事，或存在於過去的事物。使用過去式（Simple Past Tense）的目的在於強調事件已經發生。

例子：

I ate an apple yesterday.（昨天我吃了一個蘋果。）
My brother won a football match last year.

（我的弟弟去年在足球比賽中勝出了。）

過去式（Simple Past Tense）的句型是怎樣的？

1. 基本句型

I (我) / He (他) / She (她) / It (它)

主語 + was / 動詞（過去式）

- I was a teacher, but I have quitted my job recently.

（我本來是一個老師，但是我最近辭職了。）

- My sister went to see a doctor yesterday.

（我的妹妹昨天去看醫生了。）

You (你) / We (我們) /

They (他們)

- 主語 + were / 動詞（過去式）

- You were late yesterday, I am still angry about it.

（你昨天遲到了，我還在生你的氣。）

- They held a party last Christmas.

（他們在去年聖誕節舉辦了派對。）

2. 否定句

過去式（Simple Past Tense）的否定句有兩種表達方式：

主語 + did not / didn’t + 動詞（基本形式）

- I didn’t see you in class yesterday. Where were you?

（昨天上課時沒有看到你，你在哪裡？）

- Kelvin did not show up in the singing contest last week.

（Kelvin沒有出席上星期的歌唱比賽。）

或

I (我) / He (他) / She (她) / It (它)

主語 + was not / wasn’t

- Judy was not happy about what happened last night.

（Judy對於昨晚發生的事情不太高興。）

You (你) / We (我們) /

They (他們)

主語 + were not / weren’t

- You weren’t a member of the student union last year. Why are you joining now?

（你去年不是學生會的成員，為什麼現在會想參加呢？）

3. 問句

過去式（Simple Past Tense）的問句有兩種表達方式：

Did + 主語 + 動詞（基本形式）

- Did you watch the latest episode of “Stranger Things”?

（你有沒有看「怪奇物語」的最新一集？）

- Did you take my book? I can’t find it.

（你拿走了我的書嗎？我找不到。）

或

I (我) / He (他) / She (她) / It (它)

Was + 主語

- Was I at the ceremony that day?

（典禮那天我在場嗎？）

You (你) / We (我們) /

They (他們)

Were + 主語

- Were you the one who called me yesterday?

（你是不是昨天打電話給我的人？）

如何使用過去式（Simple Past Tense）?

這是今天Ben所做的事：

Do homework （完成功課） > Watch TV （看電視）> Write diary （寫日記）> Sleep （睡覺）

Ben’s sister: Mum, I’m back! Where is Ben?

（Ben的姐姐：媽媽，我回來了！Ben在哪裡？）

Ben’s mother: He is sleeping now. It’s too late for him.

（Ben的媽媽：他正在睡覺，現在已經很晚了。）

Ben’s sister: I see. What did he do today?

（Ben的姐姐：原來如此。他今天做了甚麼？）

Ben’s mother: He watched some TV, wrote his diary and went to bed.

（Ben的媽媽：他看了電視，寫了日記，之後就去睡覺了。）

Ben’s sister: He didn’t have any homework?

（Ben的姐姐：他沒有功課要做嗎？）

Ben’s mother: He finished them before he watches TV.

（Ben的媽媽：他完成了功課才去看電視。）

Ben’s sister: Did he ask about me?

（Ben的姐姐：他有沒有提起我？）

Ben’s mother: Yes, he did! He was worried about you as you are coming home late.

（Ben的媽媽：有！你太晚回家了，他很擔心你。）

Ben’s sister: He is such a good boy!

（Ben的姐姐：他真是個乖孩子！）
